ELIMINATE THE
STRUGGLE: The Treatment
Cloud™ is a patent pending patient support device that works in combination with the existing
treatment couch for radiation treatment.
The new patient couch increases support for
overweight patients and reduces nurse and doctor handling of patients during transfer to the treatment
couch.
More About
Why the Treatment Cloud Is Needed
Development by T'City Jets FLL
Team
The T'City Jets student led biomedical engineering
team developed their patient couch after reviewing existing radiology equipment and treatment couches.
The comprehensive review took place at the state of the art Lewis Hall Singletary Oncology
Center that opened in 2010 in Thomasville, Georgia.
Thanks to Archbold Hospital for
letting our team use their facilities to develop our ideas.
The engineering team met with the lead radiation
oncologist, Dr. Steven Johnson, M.D., who has interest and expertise in radiation oncology. Thereupon, the team
identified several emerging problems with the treatment couch and spear-headed a team effort to find an
affordable solution.
The Treatment-Cloud was presented to the radiation
oncology team and further development and investment in the preliminary concepts
encouraged.
Thanks to Dr. Johnson and his team for their
support.
This improved patient couch can be used in
radiology departments everywhere to provide additional weight support and patient positioning on an as-needed
basis.
Important for the Future of Radiation Treatment
The side effects of radiation treatment include fatigue, hair loss, skin problems and
loss of appetite. Both the effects of cancer and these side effects wear on patients over time and make treatment
even more difficult. The Treatment Cloud makes radiation treatment sessions faster and more comfortable for
everyone.
Oncologists and Radiation Therapists
provide important and vital treatment. Both patients and medical care staff deserve the benefits of
the Treatment Cloud.
Product inquiries for licensing or purchasing of intellectual
property are welcome and may be directed to the T-City Jets First Lego League team by contacting us here or calling (850) 583-1998.
The Treatment Cloud may be used in a variety of Radiation Therapies. For consumers interested in more information about a
particular radiation treatment or it's side effects, we encourage you to review our research concerning a variety
of cancers.
We encourage you to browse our website for additional information
about the Treatment Cloud and Radiation Treatment. For information about the Treatment Cloud, contact us or learn more.
Further, as part of our research and development of the Treatment
Cloud, we have filled our website with detailed information about radiation therapy and more
resources.
