Alternative Cancer Treatment

There are lots of different types of cancer treatments including high-tech kinds like proton radiation therapy. There are types that use normal radiation treatment and alternative cancer treatment types that do not use radiation. Some types don’t even make you see a doctor.

These are some kinds of alternative cancer treatments.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a type of alternative cancer treatment that helps relieve nausea caused by chemotherapy. It also can help people with pain caused by cancer. A practitioner pokes tiny needles into precise points in the skin. Acupuncture is safe because a licensed practitioner uses sterile needles to puncture the skin.

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy uses scented oils to make a calming sensation. You rub the oils on you or put them in your bath water. They can also be heated to release the scent. It is helpful to relieve nausea and stress. It is very safe although the oils can cause allergic reactions.

Biofeedback

Biofeedback uses your mind to control different body functions such as blood flow and your heart rate. A licensed practitioner uses an electronic device to monitor a certain body function like your blood flow. The device makes a noise or flashes a light to signal to you for instance, that your blood flow is speeding up. Working with your specialist can help control these functions. It helps people who have pain caused by the cancer. Biofeedback is very safe if done right.

Exercise

Exercise is helpful before and after cancer treatments. Gentle exercise like walking can help you sleep better at night. If you haven’t already started exercising regularly talk to your doctor and start off slowly. Try to aim your goals at 30 minuets every other day.

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy helps to relieve muscle stress and tension after treatments. The massage can be very light or it can be a very deep one. The massage promotes relaxation and relieves anxiety, fatigue and stress. There are many ways to massage.

Mediation

Mediation is a deep state of concentration where you focus your thoughts on one thing, person, or place like a positive thought. While meditating some take deep breaths or do relaxation exercises. It helps people who have anxiety, fatigue and stress. Meditation is safe you can practice 2-3 minuets every day or practice with an instructor.

Music Therapy

Music therapy is where you listen to relaxing music, write songs and play instruments. During a session a licensed instructor may take you through designated activities to meet your personal needs. It relieves pain and helps control nausea and vomiting.

Yoga

Yoga mixes stretching exercises and deep breathing. While doing yoga you pose your body in different positions that make you stretch, twist and bend. There is more than one type of yoga each one with its differences. Yoga helps relieve stress and has been proven to help you sleep better.
